Persistent Technologies: How IITian Anand Deshpande built a multicrore business in cloud computing & analytics

didn't think entrepreneurship was for me, what with my father spending 32 years of his life in the corporate world. So, after completing my bachelor's degree in computer sciences and engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, in 1984, I went to the US to complete my post graduation and doctorate in computer sciences from the Indiana University, Bloomington.

Shortly after I bagged my degree, I started working at the Hewlett-Packard Laboratories in Palo Alto, California During my year-long stint before my study visa expired, I made some friends in the IT industry and realised the potential of starting a company specialising in outsourced software product development (OPD) services back home.

So, in September 1990, I returned to India and set about breathing life into my business idea. For seed capital, I used the Rs 2 lakh received as tax refund; this amount was being deducted from my salary while I was working for HP. I also took a loan of Rs 1.6 lak ..
